Let me just get right to the point. Do you know someone who needs help with college application essays? Are they stressed about writing entrance essays on top of being stressed about what college will even look like for them in the fall of 2021 when COVID-19 is still a threat? Do you know someone who can't afford to pay an editor to help them, their child, or loved one with this intimidating task? I am certain there are even high schoolers who choose not to apply to college, because they have to write an essay or because they don't feel good enough or like they belong in college. The overall vision for my business remains constant which is that everyone can learn to write more effectively and that writing can be a vital tool for personal and societal growth and connection. The specifics of my vision have grown and shifted which makes sense to me because nothing stays the same. Creation always evolves. There's some magic in that, I think and fear. I have realized that I am passionate about thresholds, liminal spaces, transitions, the absolute fear of the unknown, and yet, taking the next right step anyway. Right foot, left foot. So a big part of my business has evolved into offering writing and transitional support for high schoolers which includes editing and mentoring through the process of writing college application essays. Writing these essays can feel daunting because you feel like you have to prove yourself, to find your voice, to find the write words in order to be accepted into a club that you don't know if you fit into in the first place. For some, this process of selling yourself is no big deal and actually fun, but for the rest of us, we need someone to walk alongside us, reminding us that we do have something to offer the world and more specifically, whatever college we are trying to get into. We need help crafting the essays that will most powerfully tell our stories and represent who we are.
